Account, sync and purchases
A HAMORA account
You need an account only for HAMORA Cloud sync. Sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a one-time code sent to your email, in MoreHAMORA Cloud or MoreProfile. HAMORA never asks during setup.
- An account identifies you to HAMORA Cloud. It isn’t a check of your callsign or licence.
- Signing out keeps your logbook and purchases on the phone. Your other devices stay signed in.
Verifying your callsign
Verification shows that your HAMORA account belongs to the holder of a callsign. It’s optional: logging, HAMORA Cloud and the rest of HAMORA work without it. It proves only who holds a callsign. HAMORA never decides what your licence allows.
Before you start
- Sign in to a HAMORA account (see A HAMORA account).
- Open MoreProfile and tap Callsign verification.
- Under Your callsigns, add your base callsign, without /P or a country prefix: for example 9M2ABC, not 9M2ABC/P. One account can hold several callsigns, such as your own and a club callsign.
Tap the callsign, then choose one of two ways.
With your LoTW certificate (quickest)
If you already use LoTW, this takes a few minutes and needs no one to check it. You need TQSL on a computer with your callsign certificate in it. New to LoTW? See LoTW and Club Log to get set up first.
- Tap Get challenge. HAMORA makes a small log file with one made-up contact, and your phone’s share menu opens.
- Send the file to your computer: by email to yourself, with a cloud drive, or by AirDrop on an iPhone.
- On the computer, open TQSL and choose Sign a log and save it for uploading later. Pick the file and save the signed file TQSL makes (it ends in .tq8). Don’t upload it to LoTW.
- Send the .tq8 file back to your phone the same way.
- In HAMORA, tap Choose signed .tq8 and pick it.
When it checks out, your callsign shows Verified. It stays verified until your LoTW certificate expires, for at most three years.
- A challenge works once, for 30 minutes. If it runs out, get a new one.
- Your certificate’s secret key never leaves TQSL. HAMORA only receives the signed file you choose, and doesn’t keep the name, email or address in your certificate.
With a licence document
For any country, with or without LoTW:
- Tap Upload licence document and choose a photo or PDF of your current licence (PDF, JPEG, PNG or HEIC, up to 10 MB).
- Your callsign shows Waiting for review. A HAMORA reviewer checks the document and the app shows the decision when it’s made.
Only HAMORA reviewers see the document, and it’s deleted 30 days after the decision, or sooner if you delete your account. An approved callsign is usually verified for two years.
For US callsigns, Check licence database adds what the FCC’s public licence records say, to help the reviewer. It never verifies a callsign on its own.
What each status means
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not verified | Added, but not verified yet. |
| Waiting for review | A reviewer will check your document. |
| Verified | Done. The callsign screen shows how and until when. |
| Not accepted | The reviewer couldn’t accept it, and says why. You can add the callsign again. |
| Expired | The verification ran out. Add the callsign again and verify it again. |
| Revoked | You withdrew it, or it was withdrawn, for example because your LoTW certificate was revoked. |
Withdraw this claim, on the callsign’s screen, removes a callsign from your account. The Callsign verification screen also lists Licence attestation and This phone’s operator credential. They’re for HAMORA Bridge features that are still being prepared, and you don’t need them now.
HAMORA keeps a record of each verification step with the callsign, so verification stays trustworthy. See the Privacy Policy.
HAMORA Cloud sync
Lifetime HAMORA Cloud keeps your logbook in step across your devices, with a private copy in the cloud. Your log always stays on each device too.
The first time
HAMORA asks before anything moves, and shows roughly how much will be copied:
- Upload: your account is empty, so this phone’s log is copied to it.
- Restore: a new phone downloads your account’s log.
- Merge: both have QSOs, and everything is kept on both sides.
How it behaves
- HAMORA syncs when you open it, when you come back to it, every two minutes while it’s open, when the network returns, and when you tap Sync now. Logging never waits for it.
- QSOs are matched only by their own identity, never by callsign and time, so a contact logged separately on two phones stays two QSOs. HAMORA reports probable duplicates; it never merges them.
- If one QSO is edited on two devices before they sync, the newer edit wins, and HAMORA tells you an edit was replaced.
- Settings for this device (your radio and WSJT-X connections, APRS views) and your QSL logins aren’t synced.
Lifetime and restoring purchases
Lifetime is a one-time in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play that never renews. Open MoreHAMORA Free to see what it adds and to buy it. See Pricing.
- No HAMORA account is needed: Lifetime belongs to your App Store or Google Play account.
- New phone? Sign in to the same store account, then tap MoreHAMORA FreeRestore purchases. If you use a HAMORA account, sign in there too: it carries Lifetime to your other devices.
- Lifetime keeps working offline once your phone has confirmed it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
Notifications
Notifications are on by default. HAMORA asks for permission once, right after setup; after that, only in MoreNotifications, where you can turn them off, choose the kinds you want, set quiet hours, and send yourself a test.
- On your phone: APRS messages to you, new confirmations after a QSL sync, Bridge or radio problems, HAMORA Cloud problems, new-DXCC spots, band openings from fresh solar data, DXCC milestones and reminders for your contest sessions. These work only while HAMORA is running.
- From HAMORA Cloud: a push when a QSO is first confirmed through a sync from another device. DX, APRS, propagation and Bridge alerts aren’t sent this way, because the cloud doesn’t receive that data.
- Lifetime adds personalized DX alerts (award needs, new bands and modes) and per-band propagation alerts.
Notification history is kept on your phone only (up to 200 entries, for 30 days), with lock-screen-safe text.
Deleting your account
MoreProfileManage accountDelete HAMORA Account.
- Your account and all its HAMORA Cloud data are deleted.
- You choose what happens to the logbook on this phone: keep it, or erase it too, which resets the app.
- Deleting your account doesn’t refund or remove a Lifetime purchase made with your store account.
