Propagation, Explore and insights
Propagation
MorePropagation shows space weather from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center: solar flux (SFI), the K and A indices, X-ray flares, solar wind and the sunspot number. Values refresh as NOAA updates them and stay available offline, marked with when they were last updated.
- Day, night and grey line are worked out on your phone, for you and for the other end of a path.
- Each band gets an estimate (Poor, Fair, Good or Very Good) with a short reason and a confidence. Confidence is never high, and 6 m is always low, because sporadic E can’t be predicted.
- Choose a target (a DXCC entity, a grid or coordinates) for its distance, bearing, how much of the path is in daylight, and up to three bands to try.
- HAMORA doesn’t show a MUF: no reliable free source exists, and it never invents one.
- Each new QSO keeps a snapshot of the conditions at the time, for later analysis.
Lifetime adds your own history with a target: which bands and UTC hours your QSOs with it were made on, shown once there are enough QSOs to mean something.
HAMORA Explore
MoreHAMORA Explore ranks live DX spots from the HamQTH DX cluster (data provided by HamQTH.com) against your log and the current conditions. It refreshes every 30 seconds while it’s open. Home shows the best one as Recommended now.
How the score works
The score is the sum of its reasons, so every number is explained.
| Reason | Points | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| New DXCC entity | +40 | Free |
| Good propagation (Very Good +25, Fair +5, Poor −10) | +20 | Free |
| Fresh spot (recent +5) | +10 | Free |
| Same callsign, band and mode already worked, with nothing else new | −15 | Free |
| Needed for an award (a WAZ zone, a DXCC band slot, a POTA, SOTA or WWFF reference) | +20 | Lifetime |
| New band for that entity | +20 | Lifetime |
| New mode for that entity | +10 | Lifetime |
| You have history with that entity on that band | +5 | Lifetime |
- Views: Best, New DXCC, Freshest, Closest and Longest DX; Lifetime adds New band, New mode and Awards.
- Filters: band, mode, continent, worked or not, spot age, and a DXCC target from Propagation.
- When a spot doesn’t say its mode, HAMORA guesses from the frequency and shows it as “FT8?”.
- Log QSO fills in a new QSO. Explore never tunes your radio.
Awards
MoreAwards follows DXCC, WAS, WAZ, IOTA, POTA, SOTA and WWFF from your own log, by band and mode.
- DXCC: worked and confirmed out of the 340 current entities, milestones from 100 to 340, bands from 160 m to 6 m, and CW, phone and digital.
- WAS (50 states) and WAZ (40 zones), with notes when a QSO is missing the state or zone they need.
- IOTA from the references in your QSOs; POTA, SOTA and WWFF as activator and as hunter or chaser, kept apart.
“Confirmed in HAMORA”
A QSO counts as confirmed in HAMORA with a confirmation from these sources:
| Award | Confirmations that count |
|---|---|
| DXCC, WAS, WAZ | LoTW, paper QSL |
| IOTA | Paper QSL, Club Log |
| POTA, SOTA, WWFF | None: credit comes from the programs’ own logs |
This is HAMORA’s guide, not the sponsor’s decision. HAMORA says “worked” and “confirmed in HAMORA”, never “credited” or “earned”: award sponsors decide credit under their own rules.
Analytics
MoreAnalytics describes your log for the last 30 days, the last 12 months or all time, in UTC: bands, modes, countries, distances and your longest QSO, operating days and hours, the equipment you used, confirmations and portable operations. Tap a row to open the matching QSOs in the Logbook. Analytics is free.
HAMORA Intelligence
Lifetime MoreHAMORA Intelligence finds patterns in your own log and says them in plain words, for example “Your best 20m DX window is 12:00–15:00 UTC.”
- Time and habits: your strongest DX hours per band, your most productive weekday.
- Bands: which band reaches farthest, where you’ve worked the most entities, and an underused band that does well for you.
- Equipment: antennas and radios compared on the same band only, with the QSOs, distances and DX share on each side.
- Direction and awards: where your DX comes from, your next milestones, and gaps worth filling, with a link to Explore.
- Portable: your QSO rate in operations, and how portable compares with home on the same band.
Evidence and confidence
Every insight shows its evidence, sample size and confidence (low, medium or high). An insight appears only when there are enough QSOs and a clear enough difference, and the screen shows how complete your data is. Space-weather patterns are described as observations, never causes.
