Solar flux, K-index and A-index

The solar flux index (SFI) tells you how lively the upper HF bands may be; the K and A indices show how disturbed the Earth's magnetic field is. HAMORA shows today's values from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, and a help sheet explains what they mean for you.

Geomagnetic conditions

Instead of only a K-index, HAMORA tells you whether conditions are quiet, unsettled or disturbed, and what that usually means for HF.

HF band estimates

For each HF band, HAMORA estimates how likely it is to be open now, day and night. They are estimates from published space-weather data, never promises.

Guidance towards a target

Choose a target, such as a country you want to work, and HAMORA shows band estimates for that path, its distance and the direction to point your antenna.

Personal propagation history

With Lifetime, HAMORA shows how your own contacts towards a target went, band by band and hour by hour, so you can see when your station actually gets through.

Your best operating windows

HAMORA Intelligence looks at your own contacts to find patterns, such as the hours when each band has worked best for you. Each insight shows its evidence, sample size and confidence, and stays hidden when the data isn't strong enough. No chatbot, no guesswork.

Band opening alerts

HAMORA can tell you when propagation looks better, while the app is open. With Lifetime you can choose alerts per band.

Propagation-aware recommendations

Home shows the best opportunity right now, weighted by the current conditions, or says honestly that there isn't one.

Solar flux and K-index:
Space-weather numbers. Higher solar flux usually helps the upper HF bands; a high K-index means a disturbed magnetic field and poorer conditions.
